ISAPZURICH has set up a Counseling Service to help people seeking a psychological consultation or psychotherapeutic treatment who cannot afford the usual psychotherapy rates or are reliant on therapy in their own mother tongue. Free of charge the service arranges analyses for analysts in training (under supervision) seeking advice in English, German, French, Japanese, Swedish, Norwegian, etc. at reduced rates.
Year after year over 27% of adults in Europe suffer from mental illness. Only 26 per cent are given the treatment they require. In most cases sufferers have to wait seven years on average for their first professional diagnosis. ISAPZURICH offers a consultation free of charge and arranges psychoanalyses and psychotherapies at reasonable rates, with the aim of contributing to early recognition and meeting the need for the treatment of mental disorders in Switzerland.
In 2007 the Counseling Service advised some 25 people and referred them to suitable psychoanalysts and psychotherapists in training. This is only a beginning of course. The aim is to increase the number of consultations and referrals to 200. To achieve this aim it is of the utmost importance that people are made aware of this service. Donations would be primarily invested in various PR campaigns and in the Internet. Both have proven to be the most effective advertising measures.
